At Arab Americans 4Ward, we are witnessing a critical transition in the political
landscape of the Democratic National Committee. Our organization, formerly known as
Arab Americans for Joe Biden, played a pivotal role in securing the election of the Biden
administration. In the time since, we have grappled with the hard truths that ultimately
necessitated the replacement of President Biden.
Long before any debate performance or interview slip-ups, the loss of support from
once-committed voters spelled the end of President Biden’s reelection campaign. This
loss of support was due, unequivocally, to the decision of the Biden administration to
provide the state of Israel with the military and financial support to conduct a genocide
of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The actions of this administration sparked a fierce
“Uncommitted” campaign that rallied 650,000 uncommitted votes during the primary
elections. Despite the persistent efforts of advocates to plead for alternatives, the Biden
administration demonstrated a lack of both leadership and regard for constituent input.
At AA4, we do not base our support for candidates on their partisan affiliation, but on
their commitment to uphold humanitarian principles. We will hold whoever emerges as
the Democratic nominee accountable to that litmus test. To that end, we demand a
nominee who unequivocally opposes the genocide perpetrated by Israeli forces and
seeks an end to the occupation of the Palestinian people, who stands for an immediate
and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and who refuses to use U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund
Israel’s violation of international humanitarian law. These actions run counter to the very
essence of America as a nation founded on principles of compassion and justice.
Arab Americans 4Ward will not back down in the face of injustice and oppression. As
we navigate the remainder of the election process, we are prepared to listen, take
meaningful action, and, if necessary, remain uncommitted.
